Emiliano Votta

PhD in Bioengineering

Cardiovascular Biomechanics.

Emiliano Votta has a Master degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (2001) and obtained a PhD degree in Bioengineering in 2006. Since then, he has been working in the Biomechanics Research Group at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of Politecnico di Milano, where he is appointed as Associate Professor since 2016. His teaching activity has been lasting more than fifteen years and included the supervision of seven PhD students and of more than 50 Master Theses. He currently teaches two courses for graduate students within the Laters in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano: Advanced Modeling Approaches For Cardiovascular Surgery [I.C.] and Computational Biomechanics Laboratory. His main research activity has been focusing on cardiovascular mechanics, with an emphasis on the numerical modeling of native and prosthetic heart valves and on its integration with clinical imaging to support clinical decision making and development of surgical techniques and devices. Side activities have included the modeling of molecular dynamics and currently include the study of the effects of mechanical ventilation. He is author or co-author of more than 110 scientific publications in the field of biomechanics, including more than 50 peer reviewed manuscripts on international journals. He has been involved in more than a dozen National and European funded projects, as well as in multiple technology transfer activities. In 2018 he co-founded Artiness srl, a startup company stemmed from the research activity of the Biomechanics Group in the field on mixed reality applied to cardiovascular interventions.

Within Silkelastograft, Emiliano Votta will coordinate the activities devoted to the numerical modeling of anastomoses and shunts devoted to feeding the design of novel artero-venous shunts.
