Valentina Ilaria Maria Catto

PhD in Bioengineering

Biomaterials, electrospinning, clinical trials, electrophysiology.

Valentina got her Ph.D. at Politecnico di Milano in 2014 on the design, fabrication, characterization and optimization of silk fibroin and silk fibroin/polyurethane composite scaffolds for tissue engineering applications. She is currently Research Assistant at Heart Rhythm Center of Centro Cardiologico Monzino IRCCS (Milan, Italy), where she is in charge of the design, preparation and submission of clinical trials’ applications at Institutional Review Board and their administration. Furthermore, she is involved in administration of clinical trials in terms of sample collection, data collection, entry, and analysis and assistance for recruiting and enrolling research subjects, even in multicenter studies. Since 2014, she works as a consultant for BEL on the design, development and morphological, physical, chemical, mechanical and biological characterizations of silk fibroin-based vascular grafts.
